“1stSaturdays represents the first Saturday of every month to volunteer in the schools to advance a school and its community towards Familyhood.
Familyhood is a 20 year vision to increase governance and community control from within a community by every school having a functioning Student Government Association, Parent Teacher Association,  Alumni  Association and community partners. In essence, the collaboration of these organizations is the schools Familyhood.”
David N. Roach, The Familyhood Handbook

A school can grow Familyhood’s systemic approach-as long as a school has its three main school -based organizations functioning – The Student Government Association, Parent Teacher Association and Alumni Association.

As long as these organizations meet every 1st Saturdays each month,  Familyood’s systemic, inter-generational approach can be used produce alumni,to improve the school and its surrounding community.

The two mottoes are:

1) Every school shall have a functioning Student Government Association, Parent Teacher Association and Alumni Association

2) Every school shall have a garden, a farmers market and grocery store.  can become systemic.

Another reason Familyhood is systemic is because there is a place, a role, for every generation.

Systemic means “everyone” meaning, every school, every parent, every student.
