50th Anniversary “Black Arts Movement” Poet’s Choir & Arkestra Performance

Habari gani watwazuri! The 50th Anniversary of the Black Arts Movement that brought culture to Black America and the world, and featured and was founded by folks like Amiri Baraka, Marvin X, Sonia Sanchez, Nikki Giovanni, Langston Hughes, Maya Angelou, The Harlem Renaissance and scores of others, will be celebrated all day Saturday, February 7th, at Laney College in Oakland. The Poets Choir and Arkestra that I will be performing with will be coming on a little after 7pm in the theater! It’s free! Hope to see you there and earlier in the day at the 25th Anniversary of the African American Celebration through Poetry at the West Oakland library! A great day for arts and culture in our communities!

“Without the Black Arts Movement culture in Black America would be extinct!” Ishmael Reed
